[Commencement] SES Holds 2020 Commencement Ceremony Online
On June 28, SES held an online commencement ceremony for its 356 graduates in 2020. In the morning, at the ceremony for the BA graduates, Professor Zha Mingjian, vice president of SISU and former dean of SES extended his wishes to all of the graduating SESers, reminding them of their dreams and convictions and encouraging them to carry forward the spirit of SES.
Student representative Xiong Ziqing thanked the teachers for their guidance and the fellow students for friendship and companionship in his speech.
Professor Wu Qiyao, on behalf of the SES faculty, called the students’ attention to the importance of lifetime learning, and closed his speech with the recruiting slogan of the U.S. Army: Be all you can be.
Student counselor Cao Yuan, who witnessed the growth and changes of these students in the past four years, expressed her wish that the students could remain kind, sincere and resilient in their future adventures.
At the postgraduate ceremony in the afternoon, student representative MA graduate Sun Kuo reflected on her seven years at SES, and promised to put what she had learned to tell bridge China and the world.
Dr Wang Yaqiong, on behalf of the doctoral graduates, thanked SES for its high quality academic training, which she believed would sustain her exploration as an independent researcher.
Professor Li Weiping spoke of the inevitability of challenges ahead, urging the students to ponder ways to make their life more meaningful.
Finally, SES Dean Professor Wang Xin emphasized the value of being sincere, which she believed would help the students to realize their goals, whether for academic pursuits or for life in general.
