[Seminar] SES BA and MA Students Presents Research Findings to an International Audience
On June 13, eight SESers shared their thoughts and findings about C-E translation with an international audience at the Symposium of Translation Between Chinese and English held by East China University of Science and Technology.
Seven undergraduate students, Gao Jiu’en, Wang Yiwen, Xie Songqiao, Xu Youlun, Sun Xiaoying, Zhuo Keqing and Deng Yufei, who were introduced to cases from Xi Jinping: The Governance of China in SES Professor Sun Huijun’s translation classes, presented their own thoughts on the translations. In addition to analyzing the orientation of the translation approaches, they provided their own improvements on the published versions, while reflecting on the process of their own translation.
MA students Shuang Ying shared the preliminary findings of her on-going project on the differences between Howard Goldblatt’s translations and his co-translations with Sylvia Li-chun Lin, which received enthusiastic feedback from the panel.
Held online via Tencent Meeting, the symposium allowed SESers to exchange viewers with distinguished scholars from home and abroad, which not only benefited their current research but also inspired them to go further in their research attempts.
