Dr. SUN Lu is Professor at School of English Studies, Shanghai International Studies University. She obtained her doctoral degree in 2016 at East China Normal University, Shanghai. She was a joint Ph.D. student at University of British Columbia, Canada (2014-2015) and a visiting scholar at Harvard University (2019).
Her research area mainly covers contemporary American literature, American culture, and world literature. Her recent publications include the monograph American Musings: American Fiction and the Construction of National Identity since the 1990s (2023), Americanness in post-Cold War American novels (2018), articles on the 21st century American novels, American studies, Western American history, contemporary literature and world literature, Kate Chopin, John Updike, Jonathan Franzen, Philip Roth, Junot Diaz, Sigrid Nunez, Joseph O’Neill, Paul Beatty, and Viet Thanh Nguyen, among others.
