RESEARCH INTERESTS & PROJECTS
Kent Su’s published research engages the intersections of landscape aesthetics and philosophical traditions in Transatlantic Modernism, in articles on avant-garde movements and modernist writers. His current major project theorizes how the ideal concept of transnational landscapes in Ezra Pound’s Cantos resembles the embodiment of Dante Alighieri’s earthly paradise from The Divine Comedy. For Pound, these landscapes represent potential solutions to Eurocentric crises of faith, war, literature and tradition. This project offers new readings of the formal innovations of The Cantos, grounded in avant-garde cultural studies, close textual analysis and original archival research.
